As some of you may know, Christine and I are working on a project to support the process of conducting literature reviews. We plan on starting evaluations soon, and would like to request your *help to disseminate the recruitment note below*.
We are particularly interested in recruiting people *outside *of HCI and Computer Science for the sake of generality, so please forward this to eligible individuals you know who work in other schools/fields.
We will also be doing pilot studies over the weekend/early next week, so let us know if you would like to help out :)

Recruiting researchers (all fields) for a literature review study at UofT - $30 compensation
Anyone who has been in academia for a while has felt the pain of conducting an academic literature review. Be it reviewing and filtering countless papers or establishing connections between concepts, the process as a whole is painful and overwhelming, and has not been thoroughly supported by traditional literature management tools (e.g. Mendeley or EndNote).
We are two graduate students in Computer Science who are working on a project to make this process smoother. We have created a proof of concept for a new interactive tool for literature review support, and would like to evaluate it with the help of the research community.
For this purpose, we are seeking individuals to participate in an evaluation study. Eligible individuals will be those actively engaged in academic research (i.e. graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and professors) who are comfortable with the exercise of academic literature reviews in their field of research. Ideally, individuals should have conducted at least one in-depth literature review in their career. We are open to all fields of academic knowledge and levels of expertise.
The details of the study and requested time commitment are as follows:
The study/time commitment: Participants will be asked to interact with our research tool for literature review on a collection of papers related to their research, for about 1.5 to 2h. Participants will be asked to select 3-5 papers on a research topic/question they wish to explore, prior to the session.
Schedule: The study will take place between August 23 and September 2. Eligible participants should have reasonable availability within those dates.
Eligibility: Individuals working in academic occupations (Masters, PhDs, Post-Docs and Professors) who routinely read and manage academic articles for their research.
Location: Sessions will be held at the Bahen Centre for Information Technology (40 St George St).
Compensation: Participants will be offered $30 for their time and contribution.
