Hi all,
Welcome back to the new semester and the new year! Happy new year to youall! We will have our first weekly HCI group meeting thissemester tomorrow Tuesday at 12:30 pm (Jan 19) in the DGP lab (BA5166). As usual, lunch will be provided. This time Seongkook Heo isgoing to give a presentation about his work on enhancing touch inputby using additional input modalities. Seongkook is currently anintern at Autodesk and a PhD candidate at KAIST (Korea Advanced Instituteof Science and Technology). A brief abstract is shown as thefollowing:Our natural touch is rich and nuanced with full ofphysical properties such as force and posture implying our intentions.Touch interfaces, however, ignore this rich information and only considerwhether our finger is in contact within a screen area and is the locationof that contact. In this talk, I will present different approaches mycolleagues and I made to enhance impoverished touch interaction, forinstance by using additional modalities like force or hover, or byexploiting underutilized touch gestures.Looking forward to seeingyou tomorrow.Best,
Mingming
