Hi Everyone!
After our last meeting on Tuesday I've taken on the role of "HCI meeting organiser person".
Going forward we've decided to try to make more room for socialising. We're going to do that using an alternating schedule of *research development* and *casual meetings*. The meeting time is currently every Tuesday at 12:30.
Research development meetings are fairly formal and will be things like brainstorming sessions, talks, or workshops and should be really useful for your research.
During casual social meetings we might split off into small groups and chat with one another, roundtable talk about how we're doing, maybe play board games, or just drink coffee. It's fine if you show up a bit late or don't come to all of these meetings.
This Tuesday we will have a research development style session watching a CHI event put on by Waterloo HCI. The session is on AR and VR, which I know not everybody researchers, but my favourite thing about conferences is the exposure to different research from my own, and I hope we can emulate that.
Here's the plan and information: WATCHI AR and VR Session 2020-05-19

Going forward we are going to try using Zoom. The biggest benefit here is we can use breakout rooms which might make socialising and some group activities a bit easier.

If you have any ideas for future meetings feel free to add them to the Google doc Vicky started:

Also* if the meeting time doesn't work for you* please send me an email or Slack message. I'd like to have the time work for as many people as possible.
Best,
