We'll have our biweekly HCI group meeting tomorrow (Tue April 18th) at the usual time (12.30) and the usual place. John will introduce a piece of research equipment, the Virtual Hallway. It provides a continuous two-way video feed connecting the 2nd floor of Bahen and the 3rd floor of the Deerfield Hall, UTM, along with additional features such as age and gender tracking of its users.

Below are more details about the equipment:

"The Virtual Hallway is a continuous two way video feed between the two buildings, complete with document camera, intended to facilitate collaboration between students on the two campuses and possibly to prompt ad-hoc meetings.

In addition to the video system, a people counting tracker has been installed on both ends, which can count and sort people who use the system by age and gender. Each end has a web page that can be accessed with a simple json query."
