Hi Folks,
Our weekly meeting starts today (Aug 2nd) in the DGP seminar room. As always, lunch will be provided. Mingming will lead a brainstorming for his research. You can find an abstract below:
Title: Brainstorming on "Designing A System to Help the Elderly with (starting to show) Memory Issues to Cook Meals"
Abstract: The world is rapidly aging. The number of old adults age 60 and above is expected to double from 841 million in 2013 to 2 billion in 2050. Canada has more people age 65 and over than there are under age 15 for the first time in 2015. It is shown that more people prefer to aging in place instead of entering institutional care centers. However, with potential cognitive function decline due to aging and/or potential dementia, the elderly might have difficulty in performing Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), which is important for aging in place. In this meeting, we are going to focus on one particular type of ADLs, preparing meals, to discuss how should a system be built to help the elderly, who start to have memory issues, to prepare a meal. I look forward to brainstorming with you all around this topic.
Looking forward to seeing you.
Cheers, Zhicong
