Hi everyone, I spoke to Jiannin, and let's have have an HCI meeting Tue 2 July (this Tue) on the topic of Learning & Improving Semi-Structured Interview Techniques. (I'll be away the following week so I asked to go earlier). I have several new grad students joining who are excited to learn about this topic and discuss with other people who are doing it. When you were learning interviewing, what was difficult at first? Do you have advice? What are important things to keep in mind when preparing as an interviewer? Etc. We'll be having smaller group discussions, with particular attention to capturing ideas and tips in the Google Doc. And to having people actually practice or demo ways they might interview. Please just dump a whole bunch of resources into that Google doc, don't worry too much about how relevant they are. Good afternoon: The Toronto Undergrad Research Computer Science(TURCS) is hosting annual research conference on Sep 13th 2019. We are looking for dgp grad students to demo their research to undergrad students as part of the conference. Length of demos should be 5-10 mins with 5-10 mins of question period. Hello all, We are having our HCI meeting on Tuesday June 25th. The time and location is 12.30 - 2.00, at the DGP seminar room, as usual. We do not have a presenter this week. Instead, we will watch Hiroshi Ishii’s Lifetime Achievement Award talk at CHI this year (link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6D1A9J0qIE) and have some free-form discussions on the talk, or ongoing research, or anything you’d like to bring up. Hello all, We are having our HCI meeting on Tuesday June 11th. The time and location is 12.30 - 2.00, at the DGP seminar room, as usual. We will have Zhen giving a dry run for his talk at EICS. Unexpected peanuts in seminar room, already cleaned up (in a deep way), asking for suggestions for next steps.

Dear all First, please allow me to convey my apologize for this unexpected case. Tonight we've invited our friends watching raptors vs warriors in the seminar room, and accidentally brought some snacks contain peanuts to the room. After we realized that, we ceased the snacks, sealed all the package contains peanuts and brought them outside the lab. Later we spent hours making a deep clean-up for the seminar room until now. We've cleaned up tables and chairs for multiple times, deeply checked the carpet and cleaned up everything looks like food debris on the ground, and opened the window to refresh the air. As a person also have allergies, I know this still may not be enough. So if you are allergic to peanuts, please try to avoid to get into the seminar room until the next Vacuums Clean Up time (typically Monday night, I think). If you are allergic to the peanuts, need something in the lab this weekends, I'm willing to help anything I could as I'll be in lab this weekends. If anyone has any suggestions to the next steps (like maybe we need to order the clean-up from school manually for the seminar room), please let me know and I'll try my best to reset our lab into a peanuts-free lab. Sorry again for this unexpected conditions. If you know anyone belongs to this lab but not signed to the mail list, please help to let them know this unexpected condition.
