Good Morning,
I am writing to remind you about funding opportunities through the School of Cities Outreach Small Grant Funds https://www.schoolofcities.utoronto.ca/partnerships-funding/outreach-small-grant-fundsand hope you’ll share this information widely with colleagues and students.
The purpose of the fund is to provide financial support to public, urban-focused outreach and engagement activities organized by University of Toronto faculty, staff and students. Since 2018 we have supported a wide variety of initiatives including: lectures, symposia, workshops, exhibits, film screenings, and field trips (see here https://www.schoolofcities.utoronto.ca/outreach/partnerships-funding#outreach-small-grants-accordion-2 for full list).
As a result of COVID-19, the fund is currently focused on supporting activities in which information and knowledge are shared virtually. This can include, for example, reports, podcasts, short videos, online seminars, and social media campaigns. (See eligibility criteria https://www.schoolofcities.utoronto.ca/outreach-engagement-small-grant-funds-april-december-2020 for details).
Through the Outreach Small Grant Funds, the School of Cities will provide up to $1,000. If your initiative combines teaching, learning and educational outcomes in addition to outreach, you can request up to $2,000 by applying for a joint Education and Outreach Small Grant https://www.schoolofcities.utoronto.ca/u-ts-school-cities-small-grant-funds.
The School of Cities will promote supported events and initiatives through our website, newsletter and social media. In exchange, event materials, acknowledgements and/or outputs should indicate School of Cities support.
We are committed to funding a diverse array of urban-focused outreach events across all university divisions. A short turnaround time means that you’ll hear back regarding your funding request within one week of submission, possibly sooner.
If you have an upcoming event or other initiative that is public-facing and urban-focused, I strongly encourage you to apply.
Thank you,
*Matti Siemiatycki*
