*Leveraging promising practices in Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in Computer Science Research *
It is widely held that embedding equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) across the research enterprise contributes to more innovative and impactful research. In recognition of this, a growing number of grant programs have added requirements for embedding equity considerations in research design and reporting concrete actions to ensure equitable recruitment, training and development, and an inclusive training environment for highly qualified personnel. In many cases, these requirements are tied to merit indicators that impact the overall success of applications. The aim of this presentation is to provide an overview of the concepts of equity, diversity and inclusion, and to offer practical recommendations and examples for how computer science researchers can move towards embedding equity in computer science research design and in developing an inclusive training plan.
