Folks,
I wanted to share with you this old article on mentoring. As you will become a mentor in your professional life, be that in academia or outside, this may help you. As a new professor, I am also trying to learn the art of mentoring, and this also why I want you to read this. If you think I could work on some qualities here that would make me a better mentor for you, please let me know.

On a personal note, in my world, I live in the fantasy of being in a very egalitarian world and it is often a bit uncomfortable for me to see myself as a leader/mentor. I get a lot of fun thinking myself as a friend who can possibly help you, if you want. I also love working myself, and I am still learning the art of 'managing' by not actually working. While my style might help some of you, others might also need a harder grip and I am happy to work with you that way, too, but please let me know. :-)
P.S.: It has been a long day for me, and I just realized I still need to read the papers for tomorrow. :P
