Hello every one, This is a reminder for our Tuesday HCI Meeting. The meeting will be at ** a different location, not DGP seminar room*** at 12:30pm. Lunch will be served. The DGP seminar room is fully booked for NSERC Site Visit, so we will have our meeting at other room. The final reminder will be sent as soon as the room has reserved. We need another volunteers for Tuesday meeting. If anyone has interested in having their own session, please let me know by tomorrow. HCI meeting agenda

Hi hci-DGPers, Thanks for your opinions for our HCI meeting. To briefly talk about the opinions, common grounds for our meeting agenda are sharing research ideas in an ‘informal’ and a ‘flexible’ way. Reading group session has also many supports, but not a mandatory way. Since we have biweekly meetings and flexible schedules in the meeting. Reading group session may not go on even for a semester. So my suggestion is that volunteers form a reading group and keep have a their own group. They will share their readings and discussion on slack channel and occasionally presents in the HCI meeting. This is my suggestion, feel free to suggest your idea by replying this email or by writing #general or #reading_group channel on Slack. Also, for the upcoming meeting, if anyone would like to have their own session, reply this email by EOD Nov 10th. I have one slot for the upcoming HCI meeting. Followings are the opinions from the members (‘*’ represents the priority based on the opinions) 1) Share/Discuss research ideas in an informal way *** 2) Practice talk * 3) Brainstorming ** 4) Reading group, 1-3 paper presentations and discussion for biweekly meeting) * 5) Mock-up PC meetings (sounds fun) 6) Reviewing conference papers 7) Practice how to give research/job talks. Hi everyone, Prof. Karon MacLean, Professor at University of British Columbia (UBC) is visiting the lab on Nov 15th. Professor MacLean directs the Sensory Perception and Interaction (SPIN) group at UBC which has been doing groundbreaking work on perception, haptics, affect and robotics for quite some time. HCI Meeting Oct 31st Agenda 1) UIST’17 - UIST’17 was held last week in Quebec city. Jiannan and Seongkook went to the conference and they are going to share their experiences. 2) Brainstorming - I will lead a brainstorming for my research project. 3) Further Opinion for our HCI meeting. - It’s getting hard to have a volunteer for our HCI meeting. I know we’ve already discussed at the very beginning of this semester. We are going to pick interesting one and will try from the following meeting.
