Toward reunion: Conversations, criticisms, reconfigurations of ICTD
<https://www.4sonline.org/143-toward-reunion-conversations-criticisms-reconf…>
This panel approaches the theme of knowledges and technosciences for living
together through the lens of Information and Communication Technologies for
Development (ICTD). ICTD is a contested and multidisciplinary field and
banner for projects that try to address systemic and societal issues
(infrastructure, connectivity, socio-economics, education, etc.) through
innovation and reconfiguration of information and communication
technologies.
The description of the joint meeting states that “Reunion indicates there
has been a break in relations, providing an opportunity to engage
differently, this time.” ICTD can include novel forms of neocolonial
extraction but also enacting relationality and the responsibility of living
well together. We invite papers from/about ICTD, or those that disavow that
ICTD/development, on the theme of reunion. Reunion, perhaps, between
technosciences, internationalism, and critique of development.
We welcome submissions in both the social studies of technologies in
development and the social studies of ICTD-the-field. We invite papers from
a variety of contexts, including but not limited to:
-
Decolonial and postcolonial computing
-
Indigenous knowledges in design/production of technologies
-
Tools of knowledge production in development and ICTD
-
Critique and analysis of development paradigm; alternatives to
development
-
Transnational flows of computing materials
-
Ethical practices of development practitioners
-
Community-centered work, perspectives, and relationships between a
communities and researcher/practitioner collaborators
-
Transfers, translations, and lifecycles of ICTD collaborations and
technologies
-------------------------------------------
TICD
<https://www.4sonline.org/143-toward-reunion-conversations-criticisms-reconf…>
comunidades y colaboradores investigadores/practicantes
-
Transferencias, traducciones y ciclos de vida de colaboraciones TIC y
tecnologías
If you are affected by the war, please check the resources available to
help you.

Ishtiaque

Subject: Request for Accommodating Students Affected by the Recent
Escalation of the Russo-Ukrainian Conflict
Good afternoon,
On behalf of the University of Toronto Students’ Union, we are writing
today to highlight the immense difficulty and sorrow that some of our
students are facing in light of the recent escalation of the
Russo-Ukrainian conflict. The ongoing Russian military invasion poses
considerable hardship not only for those within the country, but, of
course, for our student body as well, many of whom are Ukrainian themselves
and have close connections to affected regions.
Naturally, this hardship extends also into academics. Students' mental
health remains a pressing concern for us at the UTSU, as we must assume is
the case for you as well. In consideration of the compounded effects of a
devastating conflict and an ongoing pandemic, we would like to encourage
faculties, departments, and teaching staff to display compassion and
clemency to all affected students. If one reaches out to you asking for
accommodations due to contemporary political developments, we ask that the
respective instructor remain cognizant of the immense difficulty they are
experiencing in these challenging times.
The UTSU is in the process of curating resources and supports for impacted
students as well, and any questions can be directed to president(a)utsu.ca
and vppublicuniversityaffairs(a)utsu.ca.
We thank you for your time and understanding.
Sincerely,
UTSU Executive Committee
