Space Weapons
The U.S. has stated in a number of public
documents that it plans to use the global commons of space as yet another
relm of violent military dominance. The weaponization of space is currently
being advanced within the National Missile Defense System (NMD), a system
proported to protect the U.S. and its allies from ballistic missile attack
from by so-called "rogue states".
The Canadian Government is currently considering their role in development of the National Missile Defense System while still claiming to be opposed to the weaponization of space. Peace In Outer Space
(PIOS) is the Science for Peace group which is actively engaged in opposing
