Remarking Policy

General Notes

The policy outlined below applies to term tests as well as assignments, even though it is stated only for assigments (for the sake of brevity).

You may not submit a remarking request later than two weeks from the date on which the assignments were returned. We will not accept remarking requests after this deadline. It is your responsibility to pick up your assignment as soon as possible if you were not in class or in tutorial when it was handed back.

Your mark may decrease if the evaluator (the instructor or the TA who marked your assignment) sees something that was incorrectly awarded too high a mark.

Procedure for Submitting Remarking Requests
  1. If there is a simple addition mistake in your assignment, just show the assignment to the evaluator.

  2. For all other remarking requests, print this remarking form, fill it in completely, and attach it to your assignment. (Remark requests will not be considered if the remarking form is missing or incomplete.)

Note that vague statements like "it deserves more marks" or "what I did is correct" will usually not result in success because the evaluator will have applied the same marking criteria to each paper; it would not be fair to the other students to ignore these criteria in your particular case. You must be specific and have a good reason.

  3. Give the form and assignment to the evaluator or the instructor. Do not give these items to a TA who did not evaluate your assignment.

If you are comparing your assignment to that of another student, hand in both assignments.

  4. If you are still not satisfied after getting back your remarked assignment (or after having a meeting with the evaluator), arrange by e-mail a meeting with the instructor.
