Welcome to you, and also welcome to me! I’ve recently landed at the University of Toronto<\/a>, where I’ve joined the dynamics graphics project<\/a> in the Department of Computer Science<\/a> (I’m also have a cross-appointment in the Department of Mathematics). After spending 16 wonderful years as the director of the Graphics Group<\/a> at Columbia University<\/a>, I’m super-excited to be joining the amazing team of students, postdocs, staff, and faculty at U of T! I’m building up my group here, so if you are interested in academic research, I’d love to hear from you!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recruiting new graduate students! If you think we might be a good match, please apply using the Department of Computer Science submission system<\/a>. Make sure to mention my name in your Statement of Purpose, and check the box on the application questionnaire. I’m excited to review your application! I myself have a unique background, and am open to working with students from all kinds of backgrounds. I have a particular passion for geometry, physics, and creative applications,<\/strong> but in reality I’ve worked on all kinds of projects with all kinds of students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why did I move to the University of Toronto? Canada is an amazing, welcoming country, Toronto is a dynamic place to live and study, offering the perfect combination of metropolitan life (truly anyone’s interests have a home here) and easy access to beautiful nature, the University of Toronto is one of the best in the world, and the Dynamic Graphics Project<\/a> in the Department of Computer Science<\/a> is a wonderful place to learn and conduct research. Here at U of T I’m already collaborating with Alec Jacobson<\/a>, David Levin<\/a>, and Karan Singh<\/a>, and I’ve started co-supervising Ilene Lu, Otman Benchekroun, and Farhad Javid, three of our newest students at the DGP!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
