IEEE VIS 2020 | http://ieeevis.org/ https://ieeevis.us20.list-manage.com/track/click?u=874d4e627b4758f4438963e98&id=03792ecf78&e=e762836b64Oct 25-30 2020 IEEE VIS 2020 is the premier forum for advances in visualization. The event-packed week brings together researchers and practitioners from academia, government, and industry to explore their shared interests in visualization tools, techniques, and technology. We invite you to participate in IEEE Visual Analytics Science and Technology (VAST), IEEE Information Visualization (InfoVis), IEEE Scientific Visualization (SciVis), as well as a wide range of associated events. We hope to see you all this October to share your research, insights, experience, and enthusiasm and be part of the visualization movement!
The IEEE VIS 2020 Virtual Conference will be held in a video conferencing platform, the details of which are currently being worked out. It is our intention to retain as much of the original conference program as is practical, including paper presentations, keynotes, poster sessions, tutorials, workshops, meetups, etc. We look forward to your participation in this exciting new environment and are committed to maintaining the academic value and integrity of the conference. Our publication policy remains unchanged, and we view this as an opportunity to expand our horizons!
Keynote Speaker For the first time in the history of the VIS conference, we will have a Nobel prize awardee as the keynote speaker: Mario Capecchi co-winner of the 2007 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.
Mario Capecchi, a renowned geneticist at the University of Utah, is a Distinguished Professor of Human Genetics with a unique life story of overcoming incredible odds when he nearly died as a child in the streets of Italy after his mother was arrested and put in a concentration camp by the Nazis during World War II.
With an uplifting message that is mainly directed towards the junior members of our community, Mario Capecchi will stress the importance of collaboration in scientific investigation and how strong collaborative research helped him in his professional journey towards the Nobel prize. Registration We have established the pricing model for the conference as free for attendees and with a registration fee for presenters and contributors. For the first time, we are introducing free registration for attendees as a way to turn this challenging situation into an opportunity to provide disadvantaged members of our community easy access to the premier visualization event of the year. Student Volunteer Program Updates Application is opening soon!
This year, student volunteers will provide essential support to the IEEE VIS Conference either remotely or in-person at Salt Lake City, Utah. We are looking for reliable and enthusiastic students who have experience with online events to staff various virtual conference events or help with pre-conference setup to ensure a pleasant overall experience.
Student volunteers will receive all of the benefits of this year’s program and get access to reserved virtual groups (more on this soon!). Student Volunteers will also benefit by observing first-hand the latest advances in visualization, hearing and meeting world-class as well as next-generation visualization professionals from around the world, and building a network of research colleagues.

Meetups Early submission deadline: August 7, 2020
Do you want to meet people who share the same interests with you, discuss a topic that you care about or that brings the visualization community forward, or share viewpoints and experiences to foster community building? If yes, don’t wait, and submit a meetup proposal for an online event! Meetups are an excellent forum to discuss a wide range of topics related to visualization. Be it to share your knowledge by organizing an informal online meetup, to discuss methods and trends in visualization research, to provide information about the VIS organization, to iterate on new research ideas, and connect with your peers worldwide, the possibilities are yours to imagine! Meetups are a public and open forum to everyone (the meetup organizers need to register at the conference).

Visualization in Data Science (VDS at IEEE VIS 2020) Extended Deadline for Submission! New deadline is July 24, 2020
The sixth Symposium on Visualization in Data Science (VDS) brings together domain scientists and methods researchers (including visualization, usability and HCI, data management, statistics, machine learning, and software engineering) to discuss common interests, talk about practical issues, and identify open research problems in visualization in data science.
VDS 2020 solicits original work that emphasizes the role, application, and impact of visualization in data science. VDS accepts archival full paper submissions for talks and selected papers will appear in an impactful journal (e.g. IEEE TVCG, IEEE Big Data, etc). For more information see: https://www.visualdatascience.org/ https://ieeevis.us20.list-manage.com/track/click?u=874d4e627b4758f4438963e98&id=d791c8f996&e=e762836b64 or contact vds@ieeevis.org mailto:vds@ieeevis.org SciVis Contest 2020 Extended Deadline for Submission! New deadline is August 31, 2020
The SciVis contest is an annual event providing scientific datasets for visualization and data analysis. This year a data set describing complex transport mechanisms of eddies in the Red Sea under uncertainty is provided. The data from these simulations create an opportunity for visualization researchers to apply their techniques and deliver visually stunning and informative imagery to provide domain specialists with a deeper understanding of their data. Participants will be rewarded for creating an animation showing the time evolution of the simulation and illustrating the visualization techniques used.
The winning submission will be awarded with the opportunity of a full journal article. All approved submissions will be able to present their work as a short talk and during the poster session.
