Announcing the Tiger Challenge with $2 Million in Prize Funding

How can innovators and entrepreneurs create economic and social prosperity in Bangladesh?

Economic and social prosperity rests upon the ability of communities to create healthy and productive lives for themselves. Though vast improvements in health, education, infant mortality, and life expectancy in Bangladesh have driven remarkable progress for its people and economy over the last decade, there remains still widespread poverty, with new challenges also emerging such as rising levels of youth unemployment and increasing exposure to environmental health risks.

The Tiger IT Foundation is seeking solutions that will address these issues by launching the Tiger Challenge powered by MIT Solve. This inaugural Challenge aims to find and support solutions from innovators inside and outside of Bangladesh that will:

  • Accelerate economic growth and create high-paying jobs across geographies and demographics in Bangladesh, especially among marginalized populations and youth;
  • Provide equitable and cost-effective access to services such as healthcare, education, and skills training to enable Bangladeshi society to adapt and thrive in an environment of changing technology and demands;
  • Reduce economic vulnerability and lower barriers to global participation and inclusion, including expanding access to information, internet, and digital literacy; or
  • Support economic development and food security in rural Bangladesh through sustainable agricultural methods that are resource efficient, low/zero carbon, and do not contribute to regional pollution.
The Tiger Challenge is open to any Bangladesh-based applicants and any international applicants who have entered or intend to enter the Bangladeshi market. Up to USD $2 million in investment funding is available for selected winners of the Tiger Challenge.

Are there innovators in your network working on a solution to the Tiger Challenge? Please forward this message to them! Bangladesh-based applicants should apply here by August 30 and international applicants expanding to Bangladesh should apply here by October 18.

We look forward to your submissions. Happy Solving!
