Subject: DCS Innovation Lab (DCSIL) workshop series: commercializing your research with industry
To: <dcs-all@cs.toronto.edu>

Hi everyone,

DCSIL (http://dcsil.ca) is one of the UofT accelerators. We will shortly be launching an upgraded version of our highly successful Research to Commercialization (R2C) Program. The 8-week program takes place in February and March 2019, and is designed to effectively respond to the drive of applied research teams to commercialize their inventions in a founder-owned, incorporated startup format that partners with industry in order to transform the research into a production-quality high-worth commercial solution. This highly curated program by startup professionals generates the startup’s first paying and referenceable customer and provides industry a unique way to get first-hand experience with emerging technologies originating from an academic setting and evolving into a commercializing startup. A paper is attached that details the R2C Program. Please feel free to disseminate the document. The R2C application form is attached, and submissions instructions are included. Please submit the completed application form by December 14, 2018.

Information sessions

DSCIL will be co-hosting a series of breakfast and lunch information sessions for any team in the UofT research ecosystem (partnering institutions welcome) that is interested in looking into this avenue of commercializing invention. This is a proven methodology that insulates the startup from having to begin the distracting search for funds to sustain their efforts beyond the university. The information sessions are at the following times and locations. Please RSVP to Mario Grech <
mario@cs.toronto.edu> and let us know which of the three information sessions you plan to attend.

November 22, 8:30am to 9:45am at DCSIL in the Gerstein Science Information Centre
9 King’s College Road on the 2nd floor - breakfast will be served

November 27, 11:30am to 1pm at DCSIL in the Gerstein Science Information Centre
9 King’s College Road on the 2nd floor - lunch will be served

November 28, 11:30am to 1pm at the Fields Institute
222 College Street - lunch will be served

Thank you,
Paul
