5180 and Seminar Room training Feb 1st 1pm

Hi Everyone, I will be doing an updated hardware training session on Friday, Feb 1st at 1:30 pm. This is an update, so not required for those who already have access but recommended as we will be reviewing useful information about the new 3d printers - Ultimaker3 & Form2, how to print to them remotely and how to dispose of cleaning station fluid correctly, as well as some laser cutter tips. I will also follow it with an introduction to conferencing and recording systems we now have it place in the lab, mostly based in the seminar room. I’ll talk about how to invite remote participants by phone or video, record lectures and run multiple simultaneous input sources to different screens in the room. For people without room access, it will be enabled for those who attend the training, subject to faculty approval. 5180 Door access reset

Hi Everyone, We're going to be removing the door access later this week for those users who did not attend one of the training sessions held in the last 4 months (September to December, 2018). If you would like access to 5180, please email dgplab(a)dgp.toronto.edu and I can suggest some training dates later in the month. If you attended training in December, October or September your access will continue. Thanks, -John

5180 Training Session - Last session Friday the 11th

Reminder - final training session for 5180 will be on Friday Jan 11th. There will be other training, probably later in the month or in February, but not before the Jan 16th cut-off. Hi Everyone, Given the number of new pieces of equipment that have arrived and the number of users we now have on the door list we're going to do a mandatory re-training session for 5180 over the next two weeks. Before the Christmas break we will re-program the door access and remove those students who do not attend one of the training sessions held between now and Wednesday Jan 16th, 2019 Training times: Friday Dec 14 1 pm Thursday Dec 13 11 am Tuesday Dec 18th 2 pm Wednesday Dec 19th 2pm Thursday Dec 20th 11 am Tuesday Jan 8th 1pm Wednesday Jan 9th 12 pm Friday Jan 11th 2pm After Wednesday the 16th we will _remove_ the door access for those students who have not attended one of the sessions listed above. I will cover information about the new 3d printer how to print to it remotely and how to dispose of cleaning station fluid correctly, as well as some laser cutter tips and general equipment care. I'll also be talking about the new CNC mill and how to operate it. Following the 5180 training will be an optional introduction to conferencing and recording systems we now have it place in the lab, mostly based in the seminar room (this is _not_ required for access to 5180, only the first part of the training).
