3d Printer outage Friday Dec 1 (8:30 am to 10 am)

What's happening: A service tech is coming to repair the Stratasys F170 printer. Who will be Affected? Any overnight/morning jobs that go beyond 8:30 am will be cancelled. Make sure you do not schedule a job for this period. When? Friday December 1st, 2017 at 9 am Why? Stratasys thinks there is a problem with the y1, y2 axis belts that requires an adjustment. Stratasys Tutorial Video on-line

Hi Everyone, During the on-site training we shot video of the software, 3d printer and cleaning station walk-through with the technician. We've added this to the dgp website here: http://www.dgp.toronto.edu/3dprint I would recommend reviewing parts of the software tutorial about model placement and material usage, since this will help you speed up your print jobs. -John

Spool Swaps in the F170

Hi Everyone, As I mentioned in the refresh session yesterday, please run the ABS and QSR spools until they are empty in the F170 Stratasys printer. Your print job will pause until the spool is changed, and then will continue once the spool has been swapped. Swapping early means more swaps for additional builds, which delays future print jobs for others. It also leads to waste where reels are recycled before they have used all the material. We've been getting the same colour to allow us to keep using the spools until they are finished. The ABS material is very expensive compared to the PLA costs, and we don't want to waste any more than we have to. Please make sure that we use all the QSR support and ABS before switching spools. -John

5180 Training session Thursday Nov. 2nd 2:30 pm

Hi Everyone, I will be doing an updated hardware training session on Thursday, Nov 2nd at 2:30 pm. This is an update, so not required for those who already have access but recommended as we will be reviewing useful information about the new 3d printer, how to print to it remotely and how to dispose of cleaning station fluid correctly, as well as some laser cutter tips. For people without room access, it will be enabled for those who attend the training, subject to faculty approval.
