I am a Ph.D. candidate at the Department of Computer Science at the University of Toronto. My supervisor is Eugene Fiume. I received a Bachelor of Science in media systems from the Bauhaus University in Weimar, Germany. I worked there with the Virtual Reality Systems Group under supervision of Bernd Fröhlich.

I am currently also affiliated with the computer graphics group at the Technische Universität Berlin where I (co-)teach an advanced image synthesis course in Spring 2011 and the introductory computer graphics course in Fall 2011.

My research focuses on the theoretical foundations of light transport simulation and more generally physically based simulation in computer graphics. I am particularly interested in alternative mathematical representations using recent developments both in geometric mechanics and applied functional analysis.

News:

I'm now a post-doc with Mathieu Desbrun's at Caltech.

I defended my dissertation on the Modern Foundations of Light Transport Simulation, according to official records even sucessfully, on March 20th 2012.

Translation on Gershun's book where he introduces the light field (note that I am not the copyright holder but since the paper is not easily accessible I make it available here).

Our paper on the efficient and accurate rotation of spherical harmonics expansions has been accepted to the Journal of Computational Physics. Have a look at the project page for the details.
