Manager's Studio

Manager's Studio is a multi-user hands-on management training system using autonomous human-like agents in a dynamic 3D office environment. Human trainees are faced with managing teams of workers, project requirements and deadlines, and the realistic personalities of agents in the virtual office.

Apart from the human trainee, all agents in the simulation are synthetic lifeforms controlled by our behavioral engine, DirectIA. (click here for more information)

This is the application's main view. The user is represented as an avatar whose office is on the right, in between the cafeteria and the meeting room. Clicking anywhere in the office causes the avatar to move to that location.

In the office directly across the floor, adjacent to the restrooms, is the user's assistant. She reminds the trainee of many important events such as meetings and new employee arrivals.

A control panel occupies the bottom of the screen for quick access to various modules.




The control panel consists of:
  1. The current simulation time
  2. Navigation controls (stop, pause, play, restart)
  3. Incoming communication (read mail, answer a telephone call, read email)
  4. Access to project management, employee profiles and information
  5. Outgoing communication (walk over and talk to an agent, write an email, make a telephone call)
