The Audio Video Server Attendant (AVSA)

Functional Summary:

The AVSA is a speech enabled interface to a PBX. It allows a person (visitor) to call a PBX through a CODEC and, using voice commands, call people or rooms who are part of the PBX's domain. In the case of calling a room, the visitor is given the ability to control various equipment, such as the VCR, with voice commands.

We have also implemented an extension that allows visitors to view demos that have been pre-recorded onto a laserdisc. This extension is our version of a voice controlled video-on-demand system.

Other functions, such as video mail, are also being implemented.
