The Beatrice Aeros swept the Brampton Thunder in a best 2 out of 3 playoff series to capture the first NWHL Western Division Playoff Championship. The Beatrice Aeros finished first overall in the regular season, and had earned a bye into the Finals by winning the OWHA's Senior AAA Provincial Championship. The Thunder, who also finished second overall in the regular season, had previously swept the third place Mississauga Chiefs in a best 2 out of 3 playoff series.
